NVIDIA (NVDA) on Oct. 21, 2026 unveiled DSX POD, a modular reference design for factory-built Vera Rubin AI factories that shifts cabling, rack-level power, and liquid-cooling integration into partner-run factories. The design aims to speed deployments while reducing water and power use.
Factory-Built Modular Design
NVIDIA describes DSX POD as a modular reference design for complete Vera Rubin AI factories built inside factory-assembled, validated containers. Partners handle rack-to-rack cabling, wiring, piping, and functional validation before shipment, so units arrive ready to connect to site infrastructure. The company says DSX POD can reduce deployment time at a prepared site from six months to as little as 14 days, assuming the location already has power, cooling, networking, and other supporting infrastructure.
A separate report attributed to NVIDIA described one DSX POD as containing seven Vera Rubin AI racks, roughly the size of a standard shipping container, and weighing about 28,000 kilograms.
Efficiency Claims and Partner Ecosystem
NVIDIA’s DSX materials state the architecture can reduce facility cooling-water consumption by up to 100% and deliver equivalent AI output using up to 30% less power. This relies on closed-loop liquid cooling combined with dry coolers that reject heat without evaporating water.
The company listed a global delivery ecosystem including Anduril, Armada, Bull, Crusoe, DayOne, Dell Technologies, Delta, Eaton, Foxconn/Ingrasys, GIGABYTE, HPE, Lenovo, Pegatron, Quanta Cloud Technology, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, and Wistron. It specifically highlighted Bull, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Schneider Electric, and Vertiv. Partner deliveries of DSX POD AI factories are expected to begin worldwide in early 2027. The announcement did not disclose pricing, order volumes, customer commitments, or revenue contribution.
