Sandisk’s Investor Day on Aug. 13 outlined a bullish long-term financial model tied to bit growth, while shares declined over the past 72 hours amid secondary reports linking the weakness to a broader memory chip selloff and sector rotation.

Long-Term Financial Model and Market Reaction

In its Investor Day press release, Sandisk presented a financial framework for fiscal 2028 through fiscal 2030 projecting revenue growth at a mid-to-high-teens rate driven by bit growth. The company targets non-GAAP gross margins near 80%, operating margins around 75%, and an adjusted free-cash-flow margin close to 50% for the period. Operating expenses are expected to run about 5% of revenue, with no meaningful impact from other income or expense assumed. Sandisk also reiterated its commitment to return 100% of excess cash to shareholders after investing in the business. The company noted these forward-looking figures are subject to risks and uncertainties.

Secondary coverage attributed the recent share pullback on Aug. 18 to a broader memory-chip selloff, rotation away from AI hardware, and concerns about some stocks being over-owned. This followed a sharp rally after the Investor Day event that was partly reversed by the sector move. Secondary reports also cited eight customer agreements covering roughly half of fiscal 2027 bits and about two-thirds of fiscal 2028 bits, though this detail was not confirmed in the primary press release.

Investors now weigh Sandisk’s high-margin, bit-driven growth model and full excess-cash return pledge against near-term market rotation that has trimmed recent gains and may limit upside until sentiment stabilizes.
