Apple (AAPL) unveiled its first touchscreen MacBook Pro on October 28, 2026, introducing 14- and 16-inch models with tandem-OLED displays and M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Pre-orders opened that day in 30 countries and regions, with deliveries and in-store availability scheduled for November 6.

Product Details and Pricing

Apple said in a press release that the new MacBook Pro models add touch capability to the Mac for the first time, featuring a tandem-OLED PROLED XDR display. The panels deliver up to 2,000 nits of peak HDR and SDR brightness, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and support for P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts.

The laptops run on M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, include Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, and operate on macOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Apple stated battery life reaches up to 24 hours.

U.S. starting prices for the M5-based MacBook Pro lineup begin at $2,899 for the 14-inch M5 Pro model and $3,399 for the 16-inch M5 Pro. The 14-inch M5 Max starts at $4,499, and the 16-inch M5 Max at $4,799, with education discounts available for each configuration.

Launch Timing and Lineup

Apple began accepting pre-orders for the touchscreen MacBook Pro through its website and Apple Store app on October 28. Deliveries and in-store availability will start November 6.

Separately, on October 27, Apple announced a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip, starting at $1,999 in the U.S. This model features a Liquid Retina XDR display but does not include touchscreen functionality. Pre-orders for the M6 model also began October 28, with availability set for November 6.

The company also introduced a new iMac with the M6 chip on October 27, with pre-orders starting October 28 and availability on November 6.

These announcements position the touch-enabled MacBook Pro with high-brightness tandem-OLED panels and M5 Pro and M5 Max processors as the premium tier in Apple’s current Mac lineup, while the 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro and new iMac occupy different price and specification segments.
