Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) on Sept. 25, 2026 expanded Microsoft Copilot to include Home, Code and Autopilot, adding direct integration with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The company said these features will roll out through its Frontier program and private preview at month-end, consolidating multiple productivity functions into a single Copilot experience.
Product Changes and Integration
Microsoft said the Copilot app now includes three new capabilities: Home, Code and Autopilot. Home combines Copilot Chat and Cowork, with Chat supporting daily tasks and Cowork enabling delegation of larger projects. This creates a unified starting point for conversational assistance and delegated workflows within the Copilot app.
The company integrated Word, Excel and PowerPoint directly into Copilot, allowing users to create and edit Office files with content synchronized between Copilot and the corresponding applications.
Copilot Code enables users to build and run applications, automations and other task-specific solutions using natural-language instructions. Based on the same technology as GitHub Copilot, Code is designed to support users who are not professional developers.
Autopilot is a persistent, proactive personal AI agent that continues working on tasks when the user is away. Previously called Scout in regional materials, Autopilot carries forward delegated work without requiring continuous user interaction.
Microsoft also introduced platform elements—Fabric IQ, Work IQ and a new Plugin Registry—to connect Copilot more closely with organizational data, business processes and applications.
Rollout Timing and Availability
Microsoft said Home and Code will begin rolling out through the Frontier program, with Home starting in the coming weeks and Code rolling out at the end of September. Code is expected to be available in preview for Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro subscribers later in 2026.
Autopilot will expand to private preview at the end of September as part of a staged rollout through Frontier and private-preview programs.
