The Lucid Bolt partnership, announced on Sept. 17, 2026, will co-develop and deploy autonomous mobility services across Europe, linking Lucid’s vehicle and software unit to Bolt’s fleet plans and defining the commercial, production, and regulatory steps for large-scale robotaxi deployment.

Partnership Terms and Platform

Lucid Group, Inc. and Bolt announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy autonomous mobility services across Europe. Bolt aims to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous Lucid vehicles in major European cities and intends to own and operate the fleet. Bolt’s Autonomous Driving Solutions unit will lead product, infrastructure, and city-partnership development, while Lucid Technologies will oversee vehicle and software platform development. The companies will collaborate with autonomous-driving technology partners, European regulators, and policymakers to support a safe and scalable rollout. The press release did not disclose financial terms or a binding vehicle order date.

Secondary reporting indicates Bolt’s broader goal is to host 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035, requiring expansion beyond the Lucid partnership. The vehicles are expected to be manufactured at Lucid’s new Saudi Arabia facility, scheduled to begin operations early next year. The program’s timeline is linked to Lucid’s Midsize platform, which was delayed to the second half of 2027, with early fleet deliveries for this partnership floated around 2028.

The autonomous fleet will build on Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform and deliver a vehicle architecture ready for SAE Level 4 automation, meaning the vehicles can operate without human intervention within defined conditions. The hardware and sensor suite will be based on NVIDIA Hyperion, a production-ready autonomous vehicle architecture combining high-performance computing with a standardized sensor stack.

Bolt will define vehicle requirements, software, safety, and rider-experience parameters, and build the fleet infrastructure, operating systems, and city partnerships needed for large-scale deployment. Lucid Technologies will commercialize Lucid’s artificial intelligence, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomy, and digital functions under a unified structure.

Lucid framed the partnership as a shift toward supplying vehicles and software at scale rather than operating services directly. By integrating its product and software stack into Bolt’s operating model, Lucid gains a commercial outlet for its vehicle architecture and autonomy capabilities, contingent on production and regulatory timelines.

“Combining Lucid’s software-defined vehicle platform with insights from Bolt’s European data, operating infrastructure, and mobility expertise, the companies aim to develop and introduce autonomous mobility services at scale,” the companies said in their press release.
