IDEXX Laboratories reported third-quarter results on Nov. 2, 2026, prompting the company to raise its 2026 revenue and EPS guidance while narrowing its margin outlook to reflect acquisition and integration costs, highlighting stronger diagnostic demand.
Quarter Results and Guidance
IDEXX said in a Nov. 2 press release that third-quarter revenue reached $1.2 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, up 10.0% year over year and organically. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) rose 18.0% as reported and 22.0% on a comparable basis to $4.01. The company raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $4.7 billion–$4.8 billion and set EPS guidance at $14.96–$15.16, while trimming the full-year operating-margin outlook to 32.1%–32.3%.
That guidance implies low double-digit reported revenue growth and mid-teens comparable EPS expansion. Management said the midpoint of the revenue range increased modestly from prior assumptions.
Reported operating margin for the quarter improved to 33.1%, a 100-basis-point gain from a year earlier. On a comparable basis, the company cited expansion of roughly 60 basis points.
Diagnostics Growth and CoVet Acquisition Impact
On the Nov. 2 earnings call, management said Companion Animal Group (CAG) Diagnostics recurring revenue grew 11.0% organically, with international recurring revenue up about 14.0% and U.S. recurring revenue rising roughly 9.6%–10.0%. They attributed the gains to higher diagnostic utilization and a larger global instrument and customer base.
IDEXX placed nearly 5,800 premium instruments during the quarter, including 1,904 inVue Dx analyzers, which support greater test volumes and utilization across clinics. Outside companion animals, Water revenues rose 8.0% organically, while Livestock, Poultry and Dairy revenue increased 3.0%.
The company said its quarter benefited from IDEXX Innovations and continued expansion of its installed base, framing the gains as recurring revenue drivers rather than one-time boosts. At the same time, management noted margin and per-share pressure tied to recent acquisition activity.
The guidance includes roughly $5 million of 2026 revenue from the CoVet acquisition. Acquisition-related costs, integration expenses, and amortization are expected to reduce full-year operating margin by about 30 basis points and dilute EPS by roughly $0.13 per share.
This mix—robust recurring diagnostics growth supporting top-line momentum, offset by acquisition-related margin pressure—frames the company’s near-term trade-off between accelerating revenue and a compressed full-year margin outlook.
