Refining and Operations
The Energy Products segment, which includes refining and fuel sales, generated adjusted earnings of $9.1 billion, surpassing Upstream adjusted earnings of $7.3 billion. On a GAAP basis, Energy Products reported $7.2 billion and Upstream $7.1 billion. Energy Products’ GAAP earnings rose from $5.5 billion in the prior quarter, while Upstream’s declined from $7.9 billion, shifting the segment mix toward refining.
ExxonMobil reported record year-to-date refining operational performance, including its highest global fuels utilization excluding Middle East impacts, highest global diesel yield, and highest North American diesel volumes. These factors supported stronger refining margins. “We’re increasing production while improving efficiency—the result of years of consistent and disciplined investment and execution excellence,” said Darren Woods, ExxonMobil chairman and chief executive officer.
Upstream production averaged 4,496 thousand oil-equivalent barrels per day, while Energy Products sales totaled 5,753 thousand barrels per day.
The company reached operational milestones with cumulative production hitting 1 billion barrels at both Guyana and Kearl and 100 million tonnes at PNG LNG. ExxonMobil assumed operatorship of Papua LNG and agreed to increase its working interest in Papua LNG to 34% and in the Rovuma LNG projects in Mozambique to 50%.
