Enphase Energy on Oct. 27, 2026 reported mixed third-quarter results and a weaker fourth-quarter outlook, citing soft U.S. residential demand and weaker European sell-through.
Third-Quarter Results and Demand Trends
Enphase Energy reported Q3 2026 revenue of $293.3 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, with GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.17 and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.41. GAAP gross margin was 43.3%, and non-GAAP gross margin was 45.0%. GAAP operating income reached $6.5 million, while non-GAAP operating income was $53.6 million. GAAP net income totaled $23.4 million, and non-GAAP net income was $54.0 million. An investment impairment reduced GAAP diluted EPS by $0.15 and non-GAAP diluted EPS by $0.14. Non-GAAP gross margin declined from 46.8% in the prior quarter to 45.0%, mainly due to product mix, with reciprocal tariffs cutting about 1.3 percentage points from Q3 gross margin.
The company shipped approximately 1.42 million microinverters, representing 655.2 megawatts DC, and 129.9 megawatt-hours of IQ Batteries. Global sell-through rose about 1.0% sequentially, well below management’s 10.0% growth expectation. U.S. revenue increased roughly 3.0% sequentially but was constrained by soft residential demand. European revenue fell about 11.0%, reflecting summer seasonality and ongoing weakness in certain markets. Q3 safe-harbor revenue totaled $85.0 million, slightly above the prior quarter’s $84.3 million.
Liquidity remained strong with cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities totaling $931.8 million at quarter-end. Operating cash flow was approximately $0.1 million for the quarter.
Fourth-Quarter Outlook and Tariff Impact
Enphase projected Q4 2026 revenue between $225.0 million and $255.0 million, including about $51.2 million of safe-harbor revenue. The company forecast GAAP gross margin of 38.0% to 41.0% and non-GAAP gross margin of 40.0% to 43.0%, each factoring in roughly 2.0 percentage points of reciprocal-tariff impact. The guidance incorporates safe-harbor revenue, battery shipment assumptions, and tariff effects. The company did not provide a full-year 2026 revenue or EPS outlook.
Management expects battery shipments of 100 to 120 megawatt-hours and anticipates sell-through will decline about 10.0% sequentially from Q3. The company plans to ship below sell-through to reduce distributor inventory ahead of a seasonally slow first quarter of 2027.
On the earnings call, management highlighted longer-term growth initiatives, including next-generation batteries, a prepaid-lease program called Propel, expanded commercial solar and storage, bidirectional electric vehicle chargers, and a solid-state transformer for data centers. These initiatives were presented as potential opportunities rather than confirmed forecasts.
