Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) completed the Versant spin-off at 11:59 p.m. ET on Jan. 2, 2026. Versant began trading on Nasdaq as VSNT on Jan. 5, marking its debut as an independent media company with cable and digital assets for Comcast shareholders.
Spin-Off Terms and Business
Comcast said in a Business Wire press release on Jan. 5 at 7:00 a.m. ET that it distributed one share of Versant Class A or Class B common stock for every 25 shares of Comcast Class A or Class B common stock. For example, a shareholder with 250 Comcast shares would receive ten Versant shares. The distribution applied equally across both classes of Comcast stock.
Versant announced in a Business Wire release at 7:30 a.m. ET that it would begin regular-way trading on Nasdaq under the ticker VSNT on Jan. 5. The company’s portfolio includes cable television networks and digital properties such as Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes. Versant serves core markets including political news and opinion, business news and personal finance, golf and athletics participation, sports, and genre entertainment.
The spin-off was first announced in November 2024. Comcast confirmed the separation’s completion on Jan. 2, 2026, and Versant’s Nasdaq listing followed three days later.
