Uber Technologies Inc. said in a press release on Aug. 13, 2026, that its Uber Pony.ai robotaxis program will expand across additional European cities and into the Middle East, pairing Pony.ai’s Level 4 autonomous driving technology with Uber’s booking and payment platform.

The companies plan to deploy more than 2,000 Pony.ai robotaxis across Europe, extending the existing commercial service in Zagreb, Croatia, to four additional cities and adding Middle East expansion. Pony.ai will provide Level 4 autonomous driving technology and rider and operational expertise, while Uber will supply customer access through its mobility platform, including booking, payment, and customer service. Day-to-day fleet operations may be managed by local partners selected for each market.
Partnership History and Rollout Plan
Uber and Pony.ai first announced their collaboration in May 2025. In 2026, they launched Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service in Zagreb with Croatian mobility company Verne as the local fleet owner and operator.
