SoFi Technologies, Inc. reported second-quarter earnings that exceeded analyst forecasts and raised its full-year revenue outlook, driven by record member additions and loan originations. Despite the strong results, shares declined as investors focused on margin execution risks and uncertainty around U.S. interest rates.

Q2 Results and Growth

The company said in a press release on July 29, 2026, that adjusted net revenue reached about $1.2 billion, up roughly 40% year over year and above Street estimates. Adjusted earnings per share were $0.12, beating the consensus of $0.11. Adjusted EBITDA totaled approximately $358 million, implying a margin near 30%, while adjusted net income was about $157–160 million.

Loan originations hit a record $14.8 billion for the quarter. SoFi added 1.1 million members, bringing total membership to 15.8 million, a 35% increase year over year. Total products rose 42% to 24.4 million, with 51% of members using more than one product. Unaided brand awareness reached a record 10.4%. This marked the eleventh consecutive quarter of adjusted profitability.

These operating gains supported management’s decision to raise the full-year revenue outlook, building on strong member and loan momentum.

Guidance and Margin Outlook

SoFi raised its full-year 2026 adjusted net revenue guidance to a range of $4.75 billion to $4.85 billion, implying 32% to 35% growth and exceeding analyst consensus near $4.7 billion. The company maintained its adjusted EBITDA target at about $1.6 billion, aiming for a 33% to 34% margin, and reiterated adjusted EPS guidance near $0.60 based on a 22% tax rate. Adjusted net income was projected at about $825 million.

To meet these profit targets, SoFi must improve its adjusted EBITDA margin from roughly 30% in the first half to about 38% in the second half, a roughly eight-percentage-point increase. Analysts described this as a significant sequential jump and a key execution risk.

Investors also focused on SoFi’s product mix and funding sensitivity. Heavy reliance on personal loans exposes results to credit trends and net interest margin fluctuations tied to the U.S. rate path. Management’s guidance assumes no Federal Reserve rate cuts in 2026, reflecting a “higher for longer” rate scenario. The decision to hold profit guidance steady while increasing growth investments amid rate uncertainty contributed to investor caution.

An earnings conference call scheduled for 8:00 a.m. ET will provide further detail on management’s plans to expand margins and update segment-level outlooks. The call will be closely watched for how the company intends to convert consumer and lending momentum into its full-year profit and margin targets.
