Scotiabank earnings showed a record third quarter on Aug. 25, 2026, as the Bank of Nova Scotia said stronger performance in wealth management and global banking and markets lifted profitability and returns, prompting it to schedule a quarterly-results conference call.

Record Third-Quarter Results

The company reported net income of C$3.0 billion and diluted earnings per share of C$2.27. On an adjusted basis, net income was C$3.0 billion with adjusted diluted EPS of C$2.28. Adjusted return on equity rose to 14.2% from 12.4% a year earlier. The investor presentation showed revenue of C$10.5 billion for the quarter and a common-equity Tier 1 capital ratio of 13.1%. The bank also disclosed share repurchases during the period.

Wealth Management, Capital Markets, and Capital Strength

Scotiabank attributed the quarter’s gains to broad strength across its businesses, highlighting wealth management and global banking and markets as key drivers, alongside improvement in Canadian banking. Global banking and markets income rose to C$647 million from C$473 million a year earlier, supported by stronger capital-markets activity and record underwriting and advisory fees. Global wealth-management earnings increased about 23% year over year, while global banking and markets earnings grew about 37%. Domestic banking income rose roughly 12% in Canada and 8% internationally.

The investor presentation listed net interest income at C$5.5 billion, though secondary coverage cited a figure of C$5.9 billion, likely reflecting different presentation methods.

Together, the higher return on equity, that capital ratio, and the share repurchases underline the bank’s capacity to support shareholder returns and reflect broad franchise strength.
