On September 29, 2026, Samsung Electronics and five affiliates committed a combined $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, a KKR-established company aimed at accelerating the global rollout of AI data centers and expanding Samsung’s AI strategy beyond memory chips.
Deal Terms and Strategic Rationale
Samsung Electronics will invest $500 million, while Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will provide the remaining $500 million. The companies described the transaction as a capital commitment through Helix’s long-duration capital fund, not an acquisition or merger.
Helix said this investment builds on more than $10 billion previously committed by founding investors including KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra, bringing total committed capital above $11 billion. The company focuses on funding hyperscale data-center development and operations, power generation including baseload and flexible sources, power transmission and distribution, and fiber-optic and other network infrastructure.
Launched in June 2026, Helix is positioned to deliver AI-enabling infrastructure across the value chain. The commitment links Samsung’s operating and engineering capabilities to a vehicle financing large-scale AI infrastructure projects worldwide. Samsung said the investment aims to accelerate AI data-center deployment and foster collaboration among its affiliates, whose expertise spans hardware, engineering, cooling, power, and energy storage.
“Samsung’s investment builds on the more than $10 billion of capital committed to the Helix strategy at its launch by founding investors including KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), NVIDIA and Vistra,” the Helix/KKR release stated.
Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services, leads Helix. NVIDIA is a founding investor and strategic partner, though the materials do not specify its investment amount or any commercial agreements tied to Samsung’s commitment.
