Samsung Electronics (SSNLF) unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold on Dec. 1, 2025, introducing its first triple-folding smartphone. The company positioned the device as a lead over Apple’s anticipated 2026 foldable, a development investors will watch for insights into Samsung’s premium-market strategy.

Specifications, Services, and Launch Details

The Galaxy Z TriFold features a 10.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a resolution of 2160 × 1584 pixels, 269 pixels per inch (ppi), a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It also includes a 6.5-inch FHD+ cover screen with 2520 × 1080 resolution, 422 ppi, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness. The device runs Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8.

Samsung powers the TriFold with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, built on a 3-nanometer process. It offers 16 GB of RAM and internal storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB, without a microSD slot. The camera system includes a 200-megapixel wide rear sensor with optical image stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3× optical zoom, and dual 10-megapixel front cameras for the cover and main screens.

The phone houses a three-cell 5,600 mAh battery, the largest in Samsung’s foldable lineup, supporting 45 W wired charging that reaches about 50% in 30 minutes and 15 W wireless charging. It carries an IP48 rating for water resistance, protecting against freshwater immersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The device weighs 309 grams and measures as thin as 3.9 millimeters when unfolded. The launch color is Crafted Black.

Samsung bundles a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes the Gemini app with Veo3 video-generation tools and 2 terabytes of cloud storage. The company also offers a one-time 50% discount on display repairs exclusively for TriFold buyers.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will launch in South Korea on Dec. 12, 2025, priced at approximately $2,500. U.S. availability is confirmed for early 2026, though no pricing has been announced. Samsung has not provided forward-looking guidance on unit sales, revenue, or market share related to the device.

The company described the product as delivering “flagship-level performance” powered by its customized Snapdragon 8 Elite platform and highlighted the large battery as a key feature.

The timing and pricing provide the clearest near-term signals for investors assessing Samsung’s premium-segment positioning ahead of Apple’s expected foldable entry next year.
