Rivian Automotive Inc. (RIVN) reported on October 2, 2026, that its Q3 deliveries topped analyst estimates as production and deliveries aligned with the company’s outlook. It reaffirmed 2026 delivery guidance and scheduled third-quarter financial results for October 29 after market close.
Production and Deliveries
Rivian produced 19,751 vehicles at its Normal, Illinois, manufacturing facility and delivered 19,248 vehicles in the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Deliveries rose about 45.8% from 13,201 in the third quarter of 2025, exceeding analyst estimates near 18,000 vehicles, including averages of 18,001 and 18,000 from Visible Alpha and FactSet.
Quarter-over-quarter, deliveries increased roughly 57.8% from 12,194 in Q2 2026, while production rose about 56.6% from 12,613. This sharp sequential ramp reflects the first full quarter including the R2 model, which began deliveries to external customers in June 2026.
Guidance and Outlook
Rivian reaffirmed its full-year 2026 delivery guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles. Through September 30, the company had delivered 41,807 vehicles—10,365 in Q1 and 12,194 in Q2—leaving a fourth-quarter target of at least 23,193 deliveries to reach the low end of the range and 28,193 to reach the high end.
The R2 rollout accelerated retail shipments, contributing to the strong third-quarter results. Rivian also has a partnership with Uber, announced in March 2026, under which Uber agreed to invest up to $1.25 billion and plans to deploy autonomous R2 vehicles as robotaxis starting in 2028.
The combination of a rapid production ramp and reaffirmed delivery guidance makes fourth-quarter execution the key near-term operational risk investors will focus on ahead of the October 29 earnings report.
“Production and delivery results for the quarter are in line with Rivian’s outlook,” the company said in its October 2 press release.
