Procter & Gamble earnings on July 29, 2026, showed a year-over-year profit decline despite adjusted EPS narrowly topping estimates. Revenue lagged expectations, and the company issued muted fiscal-2027 guidance, signaling slower net-sales growth amid uneven demand and rising costs.

Quarter Results and Demand

P&G framed fiscal 2026 as a foundation-building year amid a challenging geopolitical and economic environment, according to its July 29 press release. For the fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30, 2026, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) were $1.43, slightly above the $1.41 consensus. Net sales rose about 1.5% year over year to $21.2 billion, missing the forecast of roughly $21.4 billion.

Net income attributable to P&G fell to $3.04 billion from $3.62 billion a year earlier, while GAAP diluted EPS declined to $1.26 from $1.48. Volumes remained flat in several categories, with uneven demand in grooming and oral care weighing on sales. Higher selling, general, and administrative costs contributed to a core operating margin decline for the third consecutive quarter, reflecting sustained margin pressure.

Fiscal 2027 Guidance and Board Leadership Change

The company projected fiscal-2027 net-sales growth of 1% to 3%, a slowdown from the 3.3% growth in fiscal 2026. Adjusted EPS guidance ranged from $6.89 to $7.11 per share, with a midpoint of $7.00 slightly below the $7.04 consensus. Management attributed the subdued outlook to tighter consumer spending, uneven category demand, and higher fuel and other cost headwinds amid ongoing volatility.

CEO Shailesh Jejurikar will become chair of the board effective August 1, 2026, consolidating the chief executive and board leadership as the company prepares for a slower-growth year. Jejurikar said, "In fiscal 2027, we expect to deliver progress on each of these key measures despite continued volatility."
