Penguin Solutions (PENG) reported a surge in earnings after the company said in a press release on Oct. 6, 2026, that accelerating demand for AI infrastructure drove record quarterly and full-year results. The company raised its fiscal 2027 outlook and appointed Stephen Cumming as chief financial officer.
Q4 and Full-Year 2026 Results
For the fiscal quarter ended Aug. 28, 2026, Penguin reported net sales of $567 million, a 68% increase year over year. Net income attributable to Penguin rose to $93 million from $9 million a year earlier. GAAP operating income climbed 458% to $69 million, while diluted earnings per share reached $1.00.
For the full fiscal year, net sales totaled $1.7 billion, up 26% from the prior year. Net income attributable to Penguin increased to $181 million from $25 million in fiscal 2025. GAAP operating income was $166 million, non-GAAP operating income was $241 million, and non-GAAP diluted EPS was $2.87.
The company attributed the record results to strong demand for AI infrastructure, data-center memory products, and related businesses. Management said AI-driven operations accounted for 78% of Q4 sales and grew 141% year over year.
Fiscal 2027 Guidance and CFO Appointment
Penguin raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to about $2.4 billion at the midpoint, implying roughly 40% year-over-year growth, plus or minus 10 percentage points. This midpoint exceeds the prior preliminary forecast of approximately $2.2 billion. The company projected GAAP diluted EPS of $3.50, plus or minus $0.70, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $4.45, plus or minus $0.70, based on 63 million diluted shares. Management described the midpoint growth as about 35% for GAAP EPS and 55% for non-GAAP EPS.
The company forecast GAAP gross margin of 27% plus or minus 2 points and non-GAAP gross margin of 28% plus or minus 2 points. GAAP operating expenses are expected near $329 million plus or minus $10 million, with non-GAAP operating expenses near $275 million plus or minus $10 million. Segment growth is projected at about 40% for Advanced Computing, roughly 50% for Integrated Memory, and flat for Optimized LED.

Penguin also announced that Stephen Cumming was appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective Oct. 6, 2026. He will also serve as principal financial officer and principal accounting officer. Aaron Johnson, interim CFO since July 2026, will return to his prior role as vice president of finance and accounting.
The raised outlook reflects accelerating AI infrastructure activity as Penguin enters fiscal 2027, positioning management to scale AI-related businesses and pursue the operational leverage outlined in its guidance.
