ON Semiconductor (ON) reported second-quarter results on Aug. 3, 2026, above the midpoint of its guidance, citing accelerating AI-driven demand in data centers and raising its near-term revenue outlook.

Quarter Results and Profitability

ON Semiconductor said in a press release that second-quarter revenue reached $1.604 billion, a 9% increase year over year. GAAP gross margin rose to 38.4%, with non-GAAP gross margin at 39.3%. GAAP operating margin was 16.1%, while non-GAAP operating margin stood at 20.8%. These margin gains accompanied the revenue growth and supported the quarter’s profit performance.

Earnings per share reflected the improved margins and revenue, with GAAP diluted EPS of $0.56 and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.74. Cash from operations increased 150% year over year, and free cash flow reached $425.4 million, about four times the prior-year level. The company returned capital with $332 million in share repurchases during the quarter.

CEO Hassane El-Khoury said in the press release, "We delivered revenue, gross margin and earnings per share above the midpoint of guidance, reflecting strengthening demand, particularly across AI-driven applications." He highlighted growing customer adoption of Treo products and high-voltage power solutions as key contributors.

Outlook and AI Data-Center Demand

ON Semiconductor issued third-quarter revenue guidance of $1.65 billion to $1.75 billion, linking the range to strengthening demand trends. Secondary reports cited adjusted EPS guidance of $0.81 to $0.93 and noted management expects AI data-center revenue to more than double in 2026. The outlook was characterized as above Wall Street expectations, driven by demand for AI data-center chips and related power-management devices.

The quarter’s margin expansion, surge in free cash flow, and significant buybacks demonstrate management’s ability to fund operational investments and capital returns while pursuing growth tied to AI data centers. The company’s focus on Treo and high-voltage products reflects a product mix increasingly aligned with power-management needs in large-scale AI computing environments, supporting the near-term revenue guidance.
