Role and Strategic Mandate

Powell McCormick will report directly to Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg. She will guide overall strategy and execution while partnering with Meta’s compute and infrastructure teams on multi-billion-dollar investments aimed at generating economic benefits in the communities where the company operates. She will also build strategic capital partnerships with governments and sovereign entities.

Powell McCormick served on Meta’s board from April through December 2024 before joining the management team. Her role supports the company’s AI growth phase, infrastructure scaling, and long-term investment capacity, positioning Meta to pursue larger compute investments and strategic partnerships.

Experience and Government Ties

Powell McCormick spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, rising to partner and serving on the Management Committee in global sovereign investment banking. She was vice chair, president, and head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners and will remain on that firm’s advisory board.

Her public-service career includes serving as deputy national security advisor to President Trump and earlier roles as senior advisor and assistant secretary of state under President Bush. She is married to Senator David McCormick (R-Pa.).
