Apple Inc. (AAPL) on March 2, 2026 introduced the iPhone 17e, a lower-priced model in the iPhone 17 lineup featuring the A19 chip, a faster C1X modem, and a 48MP Fusion camera. Pre-orders begin March 4 at 6:15 a.m. PST, with availability starting March 11.

Product Specifications and Design

The iPhone 17e runs on the A19 chip built with 3-nanometer technology. It has a six-core CPU that Apple says is up to twice as fast as the iPhone 11, a four-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The phone also includes Apple’s C1X cellular modem, which delivers up to twice the throughput of the previous entry-level modem and uses about 30% less energy than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Its 48MP Fusion main camera supports an optical-quality 2x telephoto lens, Night mode, Portrait mode, and 4K Dolby Vision video capture at 60 frames per second. The device offers Spatial Audio for video playback and recording.

The handset features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says provides three times better scratch resistance and peak HDR brightness up to 1,200 nits. The design combines aerospace-grade aluminum with MagSafe charging, Face ID, and an Action button. It carries an IP68 rating for splash, water, and dust resistance. The phone ships with iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence features. Product documentation notes fast charging to about 50% in roughly 30 minutes via USB-C.

Pricing and Availability

The U.S. starting price for the iPhone 17e is $599 for the 256GB base model, with a 512GB option available. Apple offers a financing plan at $24.95 per month over 24 months. The phone will launch in more than 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada, China, and the U.K.

Pre-orders open March 4 at 6:15 a.m. PST, and shipments begin March 11.

Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPhone product marketing, said the iPhone 17e “combines powerful performance and features our users love at an exceptional value, making it a compelling option for customers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 17 family.”
