Intel Q2 2026 Earnings Face Reality Check
Intel Q2 2026 earnings force a reality check as traders price a large post-report swing and consensus revenue and EPS will test AI and 18A foundry.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Options markets imply a roughly 12-14% post-earnings stock swing.
- Street consensus projects about $14.4 billion revenue and $0.21-$0.22 non-GAAP EPS.
- The print will test AI server CPU demand, 18A foundry execution and margin recovery.

Intel Corporation (INTC) will report Q2 2026 earnings after the U.S. market close on July 23, 2026. Traders are pricing in a sharp post-report swing as analysts say the results will test the company’s AI, foundry, and margin turnaround.
Earnings Expectations and Guidance
Analysts expect Intel’s Q2 revenue to reach about $14.4 billion, up roughly 11–12% year over year, with non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) near $0.21 to $0.22. This would mark a return to profitability from a loss of about $0.10 per share in the year-ago quarter. Intel previously guided revenue between $13.8 billion and $14.8 billion, with non-GAAP EPS near $0.20 and an adjusted gross margin around 39%.
The quarter follows a stronger-than-expected Q1, when Intel reported $13.6 billion in revenue, up about 7.3% year over year, and beat estimates on EPS and operating income. Q2 will test whether the company can sustain that momentum amid elevated expectations.
Turnaround and Foundry Progress
On July 15, ASML confirmed that Intel Foundry is using high-NA EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography machines in mass production of Panther Lake chips on the 18A node, a key third-party validation of Intel’s advanced manufacturing roadmap. Pre-earnings analysis cites 18A yields rising to roughly 85% from about 65% in the prior quarter, a critical metric for the foundry turnaround thesis.
Demand drivers include strong AI server CPU uptake, especially as workloads shift from GPU-heavy training to CPU-orchestrated inference and “agentic AI.” Intel has updated its product stack with a Xeon 6700P refresh that supports memory speeds up to 8,000 mega-transfers per second (MT/s) and up to a 20% increase in total memory bandwidth, with production slated for August–September 2026.
Intel is expanding AI collaborations, notably with Google Cloud, and working with Fortinet. The company is also implementing additional cost-cutting measures, including headcount reductions targeted at its Data Center and AI Group.
Stock and Options Volatility
Intel’s shares have surged roughly 300–350% over the past 12 months, reflecting high expectations for the turnaround. The stock currently trades about 25–33% below June 2026 record highs near $141 per share.
Options and derivatives markets imply a post-earnings move of roughly 12–14% in either direction. On July 21, the shares posted one of their strongest single-day gains in months, rising about 8–8.6%. This rally was driven by three near-term catalysts: the Xeon 6700P memory upgrade, the expanded Google Cloud collaboration, and a reported major cloud provider’s manufacturing commitment on 18A.
This combination of priced-in volatility and recent gains frames the Q2 report as a reality check on AI CPU demand, 18A foundry execution, and margin recovery.
