Honeywell Aerospace cut its 2026 outlook on Aug. 5, 2026, after reporting second-quarter results that highlighted supplier bottlenecks limiting output and shifting sales toward lower-margin original-equipment and defense programs. This prompted a significant revision to full-year profit guidance.

Q2 Results and Revised Guidance

Honeywell Aerospace completed its spin-off from Honeywell International on June 29, 2026, making the second quarter its first as an independent public company. The company reported Q2 sales of $4.5 billion, up 5% year over year.

Net income fell about 70% to $256 million, while adjusted EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes, a proxy for operating profit) declined roughly 7% to $1.0 billion. The adjusted EBIT included approximately $100 million in separation-related and inventory-obsolescence charges. Backlog rose about 9% year over year to roughly $18.2 billion.

The company lowered its full-year standalone outlook, now expecting organic sales growth of 4%–5%, down from 7%–9%. It set pro forma standalone adjusted EBIT guidance at $4.35 billion to $4.45 billion, down from $4.65 billion to $4.75 billion, and initiated pro forma standalone adjusted EPS guidance of $7.60 to $7.90. The company maintained its second-half free-cash-flow guidance range.

Supply-Chain Constraints and Mix Shift

Management said supply shortages, not weak demand, caused the quarter’s shortfall. Secular demand across commercial, defense, and aftermarket markets remained strong.

The primary bottlenecks involved castings, forgings, complex machining, and bearings, affecting about 2% of the supplier base. These constraints forced Honeywell Aerospace to prioritize original-equipment deliveries for major airframers, diverting output from higher-margin aftermarket work toward lower-margin OEM and domestic defense programs. Management said this mix shift accounted for most of the guidance reduction.

The company framed the revision as aligning targets with the supply chain’s demonstrated capabilities at the end of Q2, avoiding assumptions of rapid supplier improvement. The supply issues are concentrated in a handful of materials and suppliers.
