Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) reported Q2 2026 earnings on Aug. 5, 2026, showing surging demand for its GLP‑1 drugs Mounjaro and Zepbound. Strong product sales led the company to raise its full‑year 2026 revenue guidance.
Earnings and GLP‑1 Sales Drive Outlook
Lilly said revenue and earnings for Q2 2026 were materially above consensus. It raised its full‑year revenue guidance to $85 billion–$87 billion and narrowed its adjusted non‑GAAP EPS outlook to $35.50–$36.50 per share. Management attributed the upward revision to sustained GLP‑1 demand and reiterated expectations for strong earnings growth.
Mounjaro sales reached $9.94 billion worldwide, up 91% year over year, including $4.8 billion in U.S. sales. Zepbound generated $4.93 billion in U.S. revenue, a 44% increase from a year earlier, though volume gains were partly offset by lower realized prices and cash‑pay discounts.
The U.S. segment produced $14.4 billion in revenue, a 33% increase year over year. Lilly reported a 37% rise in prescription volume, driven primarily by Mounjaro and Zepbound.
Commercial Partnerships and Market Expansion
CVS Health announced a revamp of its weight‑management program through a partnership with Lilly to integrate the company’s GLP‑1 medicines into its obesity‑care platform. CVS reported a nearly threefold increase in Q2 profit and raised its full‑year outlook, citing the Lilly partnership as a key contributor.
Lilly Chief Executive Dave Ricks projects global GLP‑1 use will rise from about 20 million patients at the end of 2025 to roughly 30 million by the end of 2026. He expects lower prices to accelerate U.S. prescription volumes. Together, the quarter’s product sales and the CVS partnership reinforce GLP‑1 demand as the central growth driver for Lilly’s 2026 outlook.
