Apple is reportedly collaborating with LG Electronics to co-develop a set of LG-branded smart-home accessories, including a wired video doorbell, smart deadbolt, and thermostat. These devices are designed to integrate with Apple’s new home hub and an October 13, 2026, product launch.
Product Lineup and Integration
The reported LG smart home accessories also include a temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor plug-in cameras, and a floodlight camera, covering both climate control and security functions. This range of sensors and cameras would provide broad coverage within a connected-home system.
These devices are expected to work seamlessly with Apple’s smart home products, including an upgraded HomePod mini and a new Apple TV set-top box. This integration positions the accessories within Apple’s consumer ecosystem rather than as standalone third-party products.
Some of the products reportedly support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter. Thread is a low-power mesh-network protocol, while Matter is an interoperability standard for smart-home devices. The smart deadbolt may use ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for proximity-based features like automatic unlocking, enabling hands-free entry.
Manufacturing, Timing, and Regulatory Filings
The accessories will carry LG branding, with LG handling manufacturing and product support. Apple will oversee product design, features, and engineering. This division allows Apple to expand its smart-home hardware lineup while outsourcing production and customer support to LG.
Apple’s broader smart-home devices are scheduled for introduction on October 13, 2026, but the LG-developed accessories are expected to reach consumers several months later. LG has filed for regulatory approvals with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions, though those filings do not mention Apple’s involvement.
If the partnership proceeds, it would enable Apple to broaden its smart-home footprint by combining its design and engineering expertise with LG’s manufacturing capabilities.
