Alibaba Group Holding Ltd said on March 16, 2026, that it formed the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) to unify its AI teams and accelerate adoption of the Qwen model and enterprise deployment through the invite-only Wukong agent platform.
ATH Unifies AI Teams and Products
The Alibaba Token Hub consolidates AI development, product work, and go-to-market efforts under one business group alongside Alibaba Cloud and the company’s e-commerce divisions. ATH integrates Tongyi Lab, the company’s foundation-model unit; its model-as-a-service platform; the Qwen personal-assistant products; the Wukong enterprise app; and an AI Innovation unit.
Alibaba uses the term “tokens” to describe the basic AI computation units for text, images, and code, which form the hub’s core mission: to create, deliver, and apply tokens. The Qwen personal assistants have more than 100 million monthly active users, providing scale for broader model deployment across consumer products.
Wukong Enterprise AI Platform Launches in Beta
On March 17, 2026, Alibaba began invite-only beta testing of Wukong, an enterprise AI platform designed to coordinate multiple AI agents for tasks such as document editing, spreadsheet updates, meeting transcription, and research. Wukong will integrate with DingTalk, Alibaba’s workplace communication app that serves over 20 million enterprise organizations, offering a native distribution channel.
Leadership and Market Context
The Token Hub will report directly to Alibaba’s chief executive, Eddie Wu Yongming, who will lead the new group. Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren will oversee Tongyi Lab, responsible for developing the Qwen foundation models.
This reorganization follows the resignation of Lin Junyang, the former head of the Qwen project, and other recent AI executive departures. It comes amid intensifying competition in China’s AI-agent market after a surge in rival offerings. Alibaba said the restructuring aims to accelerate model adoption and coordinate consumer and enterprise rollouts by unifying model development with product distribution.
