The Meta Nvidia AI Chip Deal, announced Feb. 17, 2026 after market close, commits Meta Platforms Inc. and Nvidia Corp. to a multiyear, multigenerational deployment of Nvidia Blackwell and Rubin GPUs, Grace and Vera CPUs, Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, and Confidential Computing for WhatsApp.

Deal Scope and Architecture

The partnership will deploy millions of Nvidia Blackwell (current generation) and Rubin (next-generation) GPUs across Meta’s data centers. Meta will undertake the first large-scale deployment of Nvidia’s Grace CPUs, creating a Grace-only infrastructure at hyperscale. Nvidia also identified Vera CPUs as a candidate for potential large-scale deployment in 2027.

Meta will integrate Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and GB300-based systems to establish a unified architecture spanning on-premises data centers and Nvidia Cloud Partner deployments. The collaboration includes deep codesign across CPUs, GPUs, networking, and software to optimize Meta’s core AI models. Nvidia Confidential Computing will be adopted for private processing on WhatsApp, enabling AI features while preserving data confidentiality.

Strategic and Revenue Stakes

Meta is among a handful of hyperscaler customers that collectively accounted for approximately 61% of Nvidia’s revenue in its most recent fiscal quarter. The deal secures Nvidia’s position with a major hyperscaler despite Meta’s ongoing development of proprietary AI chips and evaluation of alternative accelerators such as Google’s Tensor Processing Units.

Vendor materials and testing indicate Nvidia’s Grace CPU can run certain database workloads at roughly half the power of competing solutions. Nvidia has positioned Vera as a follow-on expected to extend those efficiency gains. Meta has tested Vera on select workloads with early, promising results. These factors concentrate near-term procurement around Nvidia technology while leaving open how Meta’s in-house efforts and other suppliers will influence future purchases.

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said, "No one deploys AI at Meta's scale," highlighting the integration of frontier research with industrial-scale infrastructure to power Meta’s personalization and recommendation systems.
