Ford Motor Company’s 2025 U.S. sales strengthened on Jan. 6, 2026, as renewed retail demand for hybrid powertrains and lower-priced Maverick pickups helped offset a slowdown in electric-vehicle volumes.
Sales and Market Position
Ford sold 2,204,124 vehicles in the U.S. in 2025, a 6.0% increase from the prior year, marking its strongest annual performance since 2019, when it sold 2.42 million vehicles. The company increased its U.S. market share by 0.6 percentage points for the full year and outperformed the industry for the tenth consecutive month in December. Fourth-quarter sales rose 2.7% year-over-year to more than 545,200 vehicles.
Product Mix and Demand
The entry-level Ford Maverick pickup drove much of the sales growth, with 155,051 units sold in 2025, an 18.2% increase from 2024. Sales of the Maverick XL trim surged 105.1% in the fourth quarter and 29.5% for the full year. Strong demand for hybrid models also contributed to the annual gain, while electric-vehicle sales declined during the year.
This shift toward hybrids and affordable pickups supported Ford’s best U.S. sales year this decade and contributed to its market-share gain.
