Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc. announced AWS Interconnect – multicloud on Dec. 1, 2025, a jointly engineered service that creates private, high-bandwidth links between AWS and Google Cloud. Salesforce committed early to deploy Salesforce Data 360 using the service, signaling immediate enterprise interest.
Private High-Bandwidth Connectivity
The multicloud service enables customers to establish private, resilient, high-speed network connections with dedicated bandwidth between Amazon Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and other cloud environments. It applies MACsec encryption on physical links between AWS and Google Cloud edge routers and provides quad redundancy across physically separate interconnect facilities.
Customers can provision dedicated bandwidth on demand through the AWS Management Console or API in three steps: specify the target cloud provider, select the destination region, and choose bandwidth. This process enables connectivity in minutes rather than the weeks required for traditional circuit provisioning. The service uses pre-built capacity pools between AWS and Google Cloud, eliminating manual setup of complex networks and routing.
Early Adoption and Outlook
Amazon and Google announced the multicloud service during AWS re:Invent 2025. It is currently in preview with Google Cloud as the initial partner. The companies published an open interoperability specification on GitHub to encourage adoption by other cloud-service providers, aiming to standardize and simplify multicloud networking.
Salesforce committed to integrating Salesforce Data 360 with Google Cloud via the multicloud service, citing the ability to establish private connectivity using pre-built capacity pools and familiar tools. Jim Ostrognai, Salesforce’s senior vice president of software engineering, said, “AWS Interconnect – multicloud allows us to establish these critical bridges to Google Cloud with the same ease as deploying internal AWS resources.”
AWS separately noted that general availability for Aladdin Enterprise clients hosted in the United States is expected in the second half of 2026.
