Amazon Pharmacy said in a press release on Feb. 11, 2026, that it will expand same-day delivery to nearly 4,500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026, adding about 2,000 communities. The company is leveraging its logistics network and subscription services to broaden patient access.
Expansion Broadens U.S. Coverage
The rollout will bring first-time same-day prescription delivery to Idaho and Massachusetts, extending the network into new states. The company said the expansion targets pharmacy deserts—areas with limited local access to retail pharmacies—and aims to shorten the time to treatment by using its logistics capabilities.
John Love, vice president of Amazon Pharmacy, said, "Patients shouldn't have to choose between speed, cost, and convenience when it comes to their medication, regardless of where they live."
Service Offerings and Logistics
Amazon Pharmacy highlighted RxPass, a $5-per-month subscription covering more than 50 generic medicines in 48 states for Prime members. The program has been available to Medicare recipients since 2024. The company also offers Prime Rx discounts, which provide up to 80% off generics and 40% off brand-name drugs for uninsured Prime members.
In 2025, the company reported record delivery speeds across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Customers saved more than $150 million through manufacturer coupons that year, with insulin and GLP-1 medications accounting for the largest savings.
PillPack, Amazon’s dose-sorted medication packet service, and 24/7 pharmacist access are part of its patient services. The expansion also includes in-person pickup options through One Medical kiosks, which allow immediate medication pickup after appointments. Additional kiosks are planned for 2026.
For remote areas such as Alaska and the Navajo Nation, Amazon Pharmacy will continue to rely on next-day and two-to-three-day delivery options outside the same-day service zones.
The company framed the expansion as linking geographic reach with subscription and discount features, a combination that could affect prescription distribution economics and Prime member engagement as the program grows.
