Amazon.com Inc. rolled out Alexa+ nationwide in the U.S. on Feb. 4, 2026. The rollout makes the generative-AI assistant an included Prime benefit, expands device availability, and signals new AI tools to accelerate TV and film production.
Rollout Access and Pricing
Alexa+ is now available across Echo speakers, Fire TV, Alexa.com, the Alexa mobile app, and partner devices from Samsung and Bose, following an early-access preview in 2025. Prime members receive unlimited access to Alexa+ at no extra cost. Non-Prime users can subscribe to a standalone tier for $19.99 per month, while a free web and mobile tier offers limited usage to prevent abuse. This broad device coverage and tiered pricing give Amazon new ways to monetize voice interactions across phones, TVs, and browsers.
Capabilities, Engagement, and Strategic AI Initiatives
Alexa+ uses a model-agnostic architecture that combines Amazon’s foundation models with third-party models to enable natural conversations, follow-up questions, and agentic tasks such as booking tickets or rides through partners like Ticketmaster, Uber, and OpenTable. It integrates with services including Thumbtack, Expedia, and Yelp to support itinerary planning, calendar updates, recipe saving, and homework help.
In early testing, Amazon reported two to three times more conversations than the original Alexa, a 25% increase in music streams, fivefold growth in recipe engagement, and a low single-digit opt-out rate. Recent improvements include configurable follow-on listening, an “Is that for me?” interruption check, and new AI-enhanced voice options.
Amazon is also exploring deeper access to external models, including OpenAI, and developing AI tools aimed at speeding film and TV production. These efforts extend Alexa+ beyond devices into content workflows, linking voice-driven engagement and partner commerce to media production. Positioning Alexa+ as a Prime benefit, combined with these engagement gains and integrations, strengthens Amazon’s retention and monetization strategies.
