Alibaba Group (BABA) launched its first consumer AI smart glasses, the Quark S1 and G1, in China on Nov. 27, 2025, linking the devices to its retail and payments ecosystem.

Product Specifications, Pricing, and Market Position

Alibaba introduced two Quark models: the flagship S1 and the entry-level G1. The S1 starts at $537 and the G1 at $268, each offered in three variants. The S1 features a dual-chip system combining a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 with a low-power coprocessor. It uses a micro-OLED display supporting up to 3K image quality and AI-enhanced 4K video, optimized for low-light conditions. The lighter G1 weighs 40 grams, shares core hardware with the S1 except for its monochrome green display, and is designed for everyday wear.

Both models use translucent overlays to superimpose contextual information and support voice commands and touch controls. They run Alibaba’s proprietary Qwen AI through the newly launched Qwen App. Features include real-time translation, AI-generated meeting notes, navigation, and music streaming integrated with QQ Music. Payments are handled via Alipay.

Alibaba is selling the Quark glasses exclusively in China through its Tmall marketplace, JD.com, and the short-video platform Douyin. The Quark line competes with Meta’s Ray-Ban Display, which retails at $799 and uses a full-color screen, as well as Chinese rivals Xiaomi and Rokid. Alibaba did not provide forward guidance or file any SEC disclosures at launch.

By embedding AI and payments into wearable hardware, Alibaba extends its e-commerce ecosystem onto a new device class, creating additional commerce and payments touchpoints for investors to monitor.
